My initial encounter with Chris, 10-years ago, centered on the application of anthropology to the fire service. In this context, Chris has demonstrated the ability to assess a fire departments culture quickly and effectively and use this knowledge to integrate himself successfully within a fire service organization. In the succeeding years, I have witnessed Chris taking on more and more responsibilities in the support of the fire service community in a wide range of capacities such as chaplain, National Fallen Firefighter (NFFF) instructor, and fire technology instructor. Using the depth of his instructor training and classroom experience, Chris was valuable to State Fire Training in the re-development of Fire Instructor 2A: Techniques of Evaluation, Fire Instructor 2B: Group Dynamics and Problem Solving, and Fire Instructor 2C: Employing Audiovisual Aid. The range of his instructor experience and knowledge of the fire service allowed Chris to speak for his generation as State Fire Training embraces cross-generational input into the new curriculums.

"Chris Baker is one of the most passionate, caring and dedicated fire service professionals I have ever met and have ever had the fortune to work alongside on various projects and in various capacities. I consider Chris a like-minded individual who is committed to being the best he can be, being the best family man that he can be, and being the best fire service professional that he can be. He has a keen eye for creativity and for wanting to be a part of the solution, and not the problem. Besides being a good friend, I consider Chris to be a valuable team member, and someone who is able to see the forest through the trees while definitely understanding the meaning of being a part of the bigger picture."
